Portugal’s shoe exports rise

portugal's shoeIn the first half-year, Portugal’s shoe exports have risen by 6.4% to 960 million Euros. In total 43 million pairs of shoes (+7%) have been exported. If this trend were to continue, it would be the 8 year consecutive in which the Portuguese shoe industry was able to increase its shoe exports.

Most important buyers were the EU countries. Exports to Germany (+8%, 181 million –Euros), France (+4% / 202 million Euros) and the Netherlands (+6% / 136 million Euros) showed a significant increase. Exports to numerous countries outside the EU like the Japan, Canada, US, Russia and Angola rose as well.
