Here you can buy and sell in bulk and at retail belting leathers, leathers for harness, saddlery and crafting also called “heavy leathers” - shoulders, bellies, croupons, halves. Usually heavy leathers have full thickness (are not splitted). Thickness of hide measured in different areas of hide (shoulder, belly or croupon) differs significantly. For this reason when producing heavy leathers it’s more convenient to cut off and process bellies, shoulders and croupons separately. This gives more uniformity in thickness and properties of the leather, reduces waste. Croupons are the thickest part of the hide (thickness up to 5-8 mm for cattle hides). Due to higher production costs, pure vegetable tannage belting leathers are quite expensive.
